Meet the Artist.

To introduce my portfolio I wanted to create a main ‘meet the artist’ piece. Its small but meaningful.

I used a program on my tablet to make a digital introduction about me and my art! The purpose of this piece is to get to know me a bit more before getting a better look at my art.

I hope you like it!

Family Portrait

I made this painting in my last year of high school. We were assigned to create a big final painting for our final project, using a big wood board. But the subject for the painting could be anything for us to choose.

Initially I wanted to paint a family portrait but I thought that just painting people would be too cliche, so I went for a more abstract perspective. Instead of having my family as regular people, I used subject matter like plants and animals. Each flower or star or deer represents something in my family.

I used lighter earthy colours to represent a feeling of comfort, because it's supposed to be a growing family.

Ouch!

Tiny Bug

For this piece I wanted to create a story based off of all the things that could hurt you. I wanted to embody the feeling of pain in a sort of alternative way. By painting subjects of pain, such as smoking, matches, and a bunny pulling out his tooth. I have had many injuries so I know what it's like to feel that kind of pain. I used acrylic on canvas for this piece, I thought it would be a lighter material for this heavy topic wink wink*.

This piece was another school project. Again using materials such as acrylic on wood. This time I used a landscape perspective for this project. I have always had a fascination with bugs, but more specifically the mantis. I wanted to incorporate a big orchid mantis for this painting because it symbolizes luck. You are considered Lucky if you find one, which is why I painted one to get a good grade. I'm joking. (i’m not)

Digital Sketches

This collection is some parts of my process work turned into final finished work. Produced in final digital documents. I experimented with different brushes with each of these sketches. With wet brushes and dry pencils provided by my digital program. For these drawings I have been inspired by many things. Last drawing (bottom right) is inspired from the main characters in one of my favourite shows, South Park. I decided to draw these characters in the way that I see them. This is true for the other pieces in this collection. Such as the Muffy drawing (bottom middle), which was inspired by the kids show Arthur. Muffy is one of the main characters. Different shows and different art styles have inspired me a lot for these drawings. The process for these drawings was to create a series of sketches that are alike but unique. So I chose different character designs.

Character Design

For these two pieces I wanted to base them mainly off of characters that were already existing

to the left we have characters based off of the novel series The Penderwicks. these four girls are the main characters in the novels. I wanted to design them based on their descriptions in the books.

from left to right we have: Batty, Rosland, Sky, and Jane. the sisters in the book.

to the right I have a character based off of me. a persona design. I wanted her to embody me as much as she can. I used past self portraits to come up with a clear design of her, and now I have the finished product.

Short Animated Films.

Crybaby.

this small animated short film is a part of a bigger project that i'm not quite finished working on. the main girl is called crybaby. the film is based on a song by Cars eat Headrest. the song is called It's Only Sex.

I wanted to incorporate the song into this short film because it would combine well with the animation, especially if it's based on that song.

this has been one of my favourite projects that I have been working on.

Cat World

Cat world is a small world that I created in my head but somehow turned in into an animated film. I'm really interested in the idea of an alternate reality where everyone is just cats, but they live just like us.

I was inspired to create this small film about a cat living its life just like any ordinary person.

this film only took me about a day to finish, quick and easy. but still cute!
